PLEA FOR 2008 TURKEY DRIVE

It’s that great time of year again, Thanksgiving!  First of all, I am thankful for my loving caring family who has supported me thru this, my 9^th year serving the Inland Valley food pantries with Turkeys at Thanksgiving.  Those of you that have donated before or are new, I want to thank you too. You are the reason I am still able to help families in need in your area. Last year donations were low and we were not able to buy many turkeys. We were only able to buy enough turkeys for the Hemet/San Jacinto Community Food Pantry and Assembly of God’s “Thanksgiving Feast”. Other organizations we usually helped were not able to count on us. We would have liked to help the other organizations but the donations just weren’t there. I know that there are many people hurting because of the economy and the way everything is right now.  I am expecting the needs of the “Small Food Pantries” that I help to be double what they have been in the past.  I am going to need your help the most this year because there are so many families in need.  I know you may not be able to help as much as I need, but any donation will help. Whatever you can do to help will be appreciated. Each turkey will cost $13.75 this year.

"TURKEY BLESSINGS" 

Morongo Band Of Mission Indians Tribal Government comes to the rescue!

After sending out a "PLEA" for help Orrin recieved a fantastic

        LAST MINUTE 

      donation from the

 "Morongo Band of Mission Indians" 

Not only did Orrin receive the original donation of turkeys the Tribe had committed to. In addition he received extra turkeys.  What a wonderful blessing. This donation will help so many who were otherwise not going to receive a turkey this year.

The 2007 “Turkey Miracle”

Just a few days before Thanksgiving I got a phone call from Central County United Way; they told me to immediately contact Soboba Casino in San Jacinto. The Casino had a bunch of extra frozen turkeys and wanted to donate them.  We rented a huge truck, and I was able to get the turkeys myself and deliver them to VNW Circle of Care in Temecula. Circle of Care was in great need of turkeys; their operation had no turkeys and was going to cancel their Thanksgiving Basket pass out. It was a miracle, a once in a lifetime thing. A Soboba Casino employee told me, it will probably not happen again.

Because of Soboba Casino’s generous donation to THANKSGIVING FOR ALL we were part of the miracle. VNW Circle of Care serving nearly 800 families in the Inland Empire, were able to get everything else together and pass out Thanksgiving food baskets including the donated TURKEY!
